In 1949 Vernon took a trip to New York. It was his first time to New York and he was amazed by the atmosphere of the big city. While exploring the harbor, he was fascinated by the ferry boats, taking pictures of many. Based off of one particular photo, Vernon painted this old time setting of New York Harbor.
